Kombo.com’s Five Things: Nintendo’s E3 Press Event
Posted On 31 May 2010 By admin
According to Kombo.com, the non-skimping of Zelda Wii is one of five things Nintendo's E3 conference needs. We know that E3 2010 will be the first time we see the first exclusive Legend of Zelda adventure for the Wii. We know it's far enough along in development that there will be plenty to see from Link's next adventure. And we know that there's a chance it could be released as early as this year. So why should we be stuck with a minute-long trailer? At E3 2004, Nintendo debuted Zelda: Twilight Princess for the first time, only showing off a small about of footage and barely giving fans an inkling of what the game would eventually fulfill. With only a small piece of concept art to go on, Nintendo fans have been more than patient awaiting the first hard details of the game. According to Nick Geml, a God-given miracle is one of many things the Boston Celtics need....

Video Game History Month – The Legend of Zelda
Posted On 30 May 2010 By admin
Look familiar? No? Well it should. Earlier, Gamespot posted an unfinished product and we are glad to see they finally came to their senses and provided the full, edited, version of this video. While I am not sure anything is particularly special about this full version, I think they did nail it dead on when describing why they personally enjoyed the game back during it's release. I only wish that same sense of exploration was still present in today's Zelda games. Who knows, maybe Zelda Wii will bring it back home for us who remember how awesome it was "exploring on your own". E3 1997 – Ocarina of Time Link Statue
Posted On 30 May 2010 By admin
As we approach E3 2010 with anticipation of Zelda Wii, it's interesting to have a look back at the effort Nintendo has gone to with previous E3s. Specifically 13 years ago, leading up to the 1997 expo where Ocarina of Time revealed itself. This year we're yet to see any sort of Zelda Wii collectibles, but back then there were Adult Link statues being sold as part of the promotion. And yes, it is worth calling these babies statues and not figurines because they stand a good 15 inches tall. They're hand-painted polyresin and are quite difficult to come across these days. One recently sold on eBay for about $510US, which was in mint condition with the original boxing, so I wish you good luck if you choose to hunt one down. They're popular things: that particular one got 40 bids and there's no sign of them anywhere else on the web that I could find. Funky face and frilly shirt aside, this is a pretty sweet collectible. The sword and shield are even removable, so you can have all sorts of fun, I guess. Otherwise, you'll find some other pretty average Ocarina of Time statues around. Take the...

Why I Play Console Zelda
Posted On 28 May 2010 By admin
Zelda, as I have come to know, is less about playing it and more about what remains with you afterwards. Hell yeah, it's corny, but it's true. It really is the main ongoing debate amongst gamers: what makes a game? Is it the graphics and how realistic they are, or how cute the cell-shading is? Is it the gameplay and how unique the control and interface system is? Is it the storyline and how it enthralls you to keep playing? In my opinion all of these elements are what make a great game, but they are not what make a Zelda game. By now it is expected for Zelda to have good graphics, to have effective gameplay and to have a thrilling story, and it manages to do that. So when I sit down to play a major 3D console release to the series, none of that is really what I'm looking for. I'm searching for something deeper....

Twilight Princess Stickers
Posted On 28 May 2010 By admin
These stickers are part of a much larger collection you can see over at Kotaku. They were created by Shysuiko who is noted as a decent artist. In either case, the above stickers, part 5 of the collection, depict a lot of Twilight Princess esque Zelda characters. Personally, I would pay him 300$ to draw me several different types of Tingle stickers in anticipation of Zelda Wii. I just have a sneaking suspicion our favorite map maker is dead set on making a triumphant comeback....

GameSpot: Video Game History Month: Shigeru Miyamoto plus Zelda
Posted On 28 May 2010 By admin
GameSpot made a tribute video about Shigeru Miyamoto for their "Video Game History Month", and pinned him as one of gaming's greatest masterminds, but then ruin it all by showing the infamous Wii Music scene during Nintendo's E3 Conference of 2008.Also note the mention of Popeye at the beginning... Miyamoto came up with a final plan that involved the popular cartoon character Popeye since Nintendo was a licensee of the property; however, Even though Miyamoto received final approval to move forward with the game, Nintendo learned that it could not move forward with the product due to licensing issues. ...
