PETA is not Happy with Mario’s Tanooki Suit
Posted On 14 Nov 2011 By admin
I think most of us have reached the point in our lives where we know that video games are not real. The characters in video games (for the most part) are not real. Therefore, any acton that these fictional characters do in whatever game they're in, is not real. Well, apparently PETA doesn't see it that way. In their latest crusade against animal cruelty (which, for the record, I don't support, animal cruelty that is.) PETA is taking their frustrations out on everybody's favorite plumber. Specifically for his Tanooki suit in Super Mario 3D Land. I'd just like to point out that when Mario 3 was released in 1990 here in the United States. Mario wore a Tanooki suit back then as well, and PETA didn't seem to care back then. So, whats all the fuss about? Jump inside to see for yourself. ...

Why Skyward Sword Will Never Build Critical Consensus
Posted On 14 Nov 2011 By admin
You're probably looking at the title of this article and the image that accompanies it and feeling some sort of disconnect. How could there be a lack of critical consensus when it says, right there in the image, "universal acclaim?" 95 is more than a respectable score - it's a revelation. You'd be correct in a lot of ways. Skyward Sword has, on the whole, blown away a great number of critics, with some proclaiming it as either the best Zelda game, the best game on Wii, the best game of the last ten years, or even as far as to say that it's the best game ever made. And yet, sitting there right beside Skyward Sword on the front page of Metacritic is the 96 for Skyrim. Splitting hairs? Absolutely, but it's interesting from a journalistic perspective to see how very drastically the critical community has changed in the last ten years....

Awesome Stop Motion Zelda Animation Pays Homage to 25 Years of History
Posted On 14 Nov 2011 By admin
In honor of Zelda's 25th anniversary, one fan (Youtube user Badwomen55) has created a special paper cut-out animation. After watching it for the first few moments, I thought it was just going to be a well-done fan-recreation of The Legend of Zelda. Then weird things began to happen. As Link progresses through this 1986-style dungeon, more than a few cameos from the last 25 years of Zelda make an appearance. Overall, it's a fairly entertaining experience, and I recommend heading inside to watch. ...

How to Earn AT LEAST 885 Lives in Mario 3D Land
Posted On 14 Nov 2011 By admin
I think the title speaks for itself. I remember abusing this when I played the classic Mario games. It's a great payoff for me. Lose one life from a time out, gain about 200 lives? Yes, I think I'll take that, and repeat it a few times. This game feature is great because you just need to time one placement and you earn lives much quicker than other games. Other games you were forced to watch as the shell went back and forth, a process which took up some valuable time in which you could be splurging in those green mushrooms. Video after the jump....

EA and Valve Are Head To Head For Wii U’s Online Service
Posted On 14 Nov 2011 By admin
RUMOR! I am going to ahead and start with that word for this source, which is anonymous, claims that her information comes from a network engineer whom she is friends with. Yeah, but that doesn't mean we're just going to completely ignore this. This is from the EA aspect of this tidbit of news. EA are supposedly in talks with Nintendo to try to make Origin a key element to Nintendo's online strategy. Valve seems to be doing the same, trying to get Nintendo use Steam. EA is putting a lot of pressure for Origin, but we honestly don't know what they are doing at the moment. It's actually not too much of a surprise to see EA working with Nintendo at this point though, from their excitement and many praises starting back from E3. There aren't any clues on just how similar the online strategy will be compared to these two companies and the Wii U, but it isn't a bad idea to keep an eye on them. For more, you're going to have to clickity click on the jump....
