Featured SS Thread: Favorite Dungeon
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
For those who have not beaten the game and do not wish to see spoilers to upcoming dungeons, you may want to be cautious in your reading of this topic. Skyward Sword introduced many new ideas and techniques, with many new things made possible with the addition of the new items and motion controls. Some [...]

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance Screenshots Show Pinocchio and Hunchback Worlds
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
Famitsu magazine has gone online with a few new screenshots from Kingdom Hearts 3D that show off two of the game's confirmed Disney worlds: Pranksters' Paradise, based on Pleasure Island from Pinocchio, and La Cité des Cloches, based on Paris and the cathedral from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. There isn't a lot of action in these screens - mostly we get glimpses at characters from the original films such as the Blue Fairy and Esmeralda in classic scenes based on the films. A few miscellaneous action shots were tossed in as well, showing some new Dream Eaters and tons of Sora and Riku kicking ass. Hop inside to see the rest of the set....

Comparing Skyward Sword: Game Introduction
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
It shouldn’t need to be stated that any video game must have an introduction. There are many ways of constructing these early sections of a game, but for a game to have a middle and an end it must have a beginning, regardless of what form that beginning takes. Zelda games are no exception and [...]

Black Friday Gone Horribly Wrong
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
Well, it's Black Friday. I just got through a shitload of shopping, and I'm tired as hell. But hey, it's the one LEGITIMATE day where I can spend money and get away with it. I have all the technology that I need. I just bought the usual: clothes. Well, THIS person decided to push the limits of "competitive shopping." However, this time it went over the line. Said person, trying to get ahead of the game, used pepper spray. What the hell. What kind of person would do that? That's not cool. More information after the jump....

Nintendo Needs to Go Mobile
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
Nintendo is a great company that designs games. That cannot be denied. Hell, just look at Skyward Sword. From what I last heard, they sold a good amount of that game. I think, however, that they could do a LOT more by expanding into the mobile industry. Nintendo can gain a lot from making games on the mobile platform, rather than their restricted DSiWare titles or 3DS Shop system. The games cost an arm and leg in comparison to iOS games, which are ten times the fun. Developers are starting to notice and many are asking for Nintendo to reconsider development onto the mobile platform. More details after the jump....

New Live-Action Mario Kart 7 Commercial
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
I can't tell you how much I love live-action commercials for video games, especially Nintendo games. Sometimes it's great because it gives you a hint at the movie-version you'll never had, sometimes it gives you chills at the thought of you actually entering Hyrule, and other times it's just ridiculous and fun. The latest Mario Kart 7 commercial fulfills the latter of the three. Not only is the new commercial loads of fun, but it is the best Mario Kart commercial of all time....

Fan Artist of the Month: Cory Godbey
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
November is coming to a close, so, once again, it's time for another Fan Artist of the Month. This month the title goes to a recent discovery of mine, who I started following after stumbling across his personal work rather than his Nintendo stuff. The artist in question is none other than Cory Godbey, who accumulated a large portfolio of Nintendo artwork through his 'Bit and Run' series. Not only is his art style amazing, but he often takes the interesting perspective of the minor minion characters from Mario in his work. He also successfully transitions between serious and humerus tones, giving his work an even more well-rounded feel. Check out his work inside....

Mario Kart 7 Rushed to Launch, Division of Labor Between Nintendo and Retro Studios
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
Mario Kart 7 is right around the corner, and while Mario Kart games are never quite the megaton excitement machines that Zelda games tend to be, we're still pretty stoked. Not only is it the newest in one of the most consistently high quality franchises to ever come out of Nintendo, it also promises to be one of the first big 3DS online experiences. (Can you say "Zelda Informer Mario Kart 7 online community tournaments"?) But there's been a question tugging at the back of my mind ever since we found out it would be releasing this year alongside Super Mario 3D Land - how is Nintendo going to prep two major 3DS titles for a holiday launch? Jump inside for the answers. ...

Skyward Sword: Iwata Asks Aonuma & Fujibayashi About Zelda Symphony, Skyward Sword
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
Skyward Sword's Japanese launch day was heralded by a new Iwata Asks interview with Mr. Aonuma and Mr. Fujibayashi regarding not only the new Wii game, but also the Zelda Symphony concerts. Naturally since the concerts and the release of the Wii's swan song have already happened there isn't much in the way of "hard news" here, but we do get some last-minute insights into this year's crowning Zelda moments. Hop inside for a breakdown and some quotes from the interview....

The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary CD Review
Posted On 25 Nov 2011 By admin
There are few game franchises with musical soundtracks as storied as The Legend of Zelda's. In this 25th year of this most hallowed franchise, those who pre-ordered Skyward Sword received a magnificent gift in the form of a symphonic CD filled with nostalgia and greatness. Arguing the merits of the original compositions that are represented by this CD is worthless; it's no exaggeration to say they're all stone-cold masterpieces, though one's familiarity with some of the specific tunes in some of them may not be there (I, for instance, forgot entirely about some of the absolutely unbelievable compositions on Twilight Princess's soundtrack, for instance). The question that always arises when what is ostensibly a remix album (and for most of these tracks, that's exactly what this is) is released is whether they add anything meaningful to any of the tracks - and in this CD's case, that's exactly what it does, over and over again, for 48 minutes....
