2011 at Zelda Informer in Review: Best Year Yet
Posted On 04 Jan 2012 By admin
2011 has come and gone and we certainly left the year on a downturn. Missing the final two weeks of the year was a humbling experience, and we missed some crazy stuff while we were away. Still, the year on the whole was ZI's greatest year yet - both in post quality, article quality, and just... yeah. Best year ever. Each year ZI has grown substantially, and this year was no different. In terms of you guys, the fans, you visited us a total of 4,453,789 times and while you guys stopped by... you viewed 11,505,185 pages. Essentially, you viewed about 2.6 pages per time you came to our site. Lets sit back and think about that for a moment. We served essentially 4.5 million viewers this year. Compared to 2010, 2011 made us look like an entirely different website. In 2010 we had as many pageviews as we had unique visitors in 2011. That's staggering. Of course, what really matters is what content we provided that all of you felt was the best of what we had to show this year. This year proved more than ever that our refocus on Zelda centric content, specifically walkthroughs, was in high...

A huge thanks to History of Hyrule for sending this in to me. We now have scans for much of the Hyrule Historia book. These aren’t the best quality scans, nor is it absolutely complete. However, there are now 105 pages available for download and because of the size of the file, we decided not [...]

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Hylian Font Translated
Posted On 04 Jan 2012 By admin
In addition to awesome art and the secrets of the official Zelda timeline, the Zelda art book, Hyrule Historia, also included translation keys for the many versions of Hylian featured throughout the series. The Hylian text for previously released Zelda titles were decoded and made into fonts long ago, but now we have a proper key for the recently released Skyward Sword, which means an Anicent Hylian font (translated from the Japanese key) is now available to download. ...

Zelda Timeline Version 2.0
Posted On 04 Jan 2012 By admin
This past month, the Zelda community has been in a frenzy due to Nintendo's unveiling of their official timeline for the series, as featured in Hyrule Historia. Even now we are still discovering new information as translations for the Japanese-published art book come in. However, the main timeline chart itself has been out and translated for awhile now, and the fandom is now in its acceptance period (since the book's publication was overseen by Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma himself, we cannot deny its authenticity). Some parts of the official timeline make perfect sense, while others are still making us scratch out heads, but, in either case we are all reacting in different ways. Continue inside to see how artist Zac Gorman reacted....

Skyward Sword: Skyloft Concept Artwork
Posted On 04 Jan 2012 By admin
Skyloft is the main attraction in the Sky area of Skyward Sword and it is where the vast majority of the characters live. Having played through Skyward Sword a number of times, I have the layout of the island completely memorized, knowing where all the houses are, all the entrances to the various areas, and [...]

Looking Back at 2011: The Year of Zelda
Posted On 04 Jan 2012 By admin
Back at the conclusion to 2010 many a Zelda fan was mourning for the ultimately Zelda-less year. Besides the reveal of Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3D at E3, all fans had was the lingering effect of Spirit Tracks from 2009. 2010 was empty for the Hylian-otaku, but the year did promise big for 2011, leading many to herald the coming year as "The Year of Zelda". Now we're in 2012, with The Year of Zelda behind us. We expected lots for the 25th Anniversary Year of Zelda, but in the end, we never expected to get quite as much as we did. The first five months of the year were just as barren as 2010 for the otaku, apart from Iwata teasing the logo for the 25th Anniversary at GDC. However at E3 all of that would change, making these past seven months the best in the franchise's storied lifetime, and marking 2011 truly as the year of Zelda....
