From Manipulative Villain to Fallen Anti-Hero: Ganondorf’s Transformation
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
Ganondorf is the iconic villain of Zelda, the one man we all love to hate. His appearances in three of the most critical titles of Zelda canon – Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess – have cemented his status not only as the most iconic villain, but also as the perennial, most [...]

Miyamoto Working on "Original" Title
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
According to an interview with ZoomIn.tv, Shigeru Miyamoto is indeed working on an "original" title in addition to his work on Pikmin 3. Of course, whether this means a new IP or an "original" entry in a pre-existing series is unknown, but there's reason to be excited anyways. Addressing concerns that he might be retiring, Miyamoto clarified that he was indeed only speaking about the future of Nintendo and the ability of the company to get new talent in place when he eventually does retire. In fact, in the original article, Miyamoto was saying that he was stepping back from his managerial role to get more intimately involved with games development again, which can only mean great things for the company. Jump inside for the full interview and some additional thoughts on this potentially very exciting news....

Rumor: Xbox and PlayStation Successors to Steal Wii U Thunder at E3 2012?
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
Generally when fans have asked about when we'll see the next Xbox or PlayStation, we've heard that the systems have many years ahead of them, or that there are no plans to release the Microsoft and Sony successor consoles anytime soon. In recent months we've gotten some backpedaling in that area, but according to a report from MCV, it seems that, with the quite-likely arrival of Wii U launch details at E3 2012, the two competing hardware developers feel compelled to steal the show. The information comes from alleged third-party informants, towards whom both Microsoft and Sony have supposedly shown signs that they intend to make their response to Nintendo's upcoming console at the next E3. We'll keep our feelers out for more such reports to see whether we can confirm them one way or the other, but in the meantime we can still offer our thoughts....

Don’t Misinterpret Aonuma’s Words: Hyrule Historia’s Timeline is Fully Canon
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
Last night we posted a message from Mr. Aonuma regarding the purpose of the Hyrule Historia and the nature of the timeline contained therein. We can expect fellow game sites to devise their own commentaries on what Aonuma had to say, but as so often happens with our beloved series this often results in writers taking massive leaps that don't quite match the spirit of the legend. A recent article from GamesRadar, in our humble opinion, does just that. Editor Justin Towell claims that Aonuma's comments in the Historia suggest that the timeline it lays out is not fully canonical. Naturally, we think this is complete nonsense. Want to find out why? Demon Lord Ghirahim – I’m Fabulous
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
There are certainly a lot of ways to describe the Demon Lord Ghirahim. He is one of the most unorthodox villains in the Zelda series, let alone the entire videogame industry. The word of choice that is frequently coming up on the internet is fabulous. Ghirahim is certainly Furious! Outraged! Sick with Anger!… but this [...]

Explaining the Third Split in the Official Zelda Timeline
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
The release of the official Zelda timeline in Hyrule Historia truly came out of nowhere and took the Zelda fanbase by surprise. A moment that we had long believed would never come caught us off guard in every regard. At first glance of the timeline many theorists did a double take and still couldn't believe what they were seeing. Yet the more fans looked at the timeline the more they realized how much sense it makes. That ultimately it was hardly any different to some of main timeline theories in circulation. Perhaps the point of most contention is the ambiguous third split introduced by the official release. Then again, theorists have been conceptualizing timeline's with three arcs, or three post-Ocarina of Time continuities if you will, for several years now. However, ever since the dual split in the timeline was revealed by Aonuma back in 2002, there has been no reason to legitimately consider a third split. While many theorists saw it as a viable possibility, the concept had little merit with Aonuma's quote asserting that "Ocarina of Time basically has two endings". Now that the third split has been confirmed by Hyrule Historia we are left with the...

Skyward Sword Music: Ballad of the Goddess 8-Bit Remix
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
One of my favorite things to randomly search for on YouTube is 8-bit remixes of some of my favorite songs or favorite game themes from modern games. I’m not sure what really draws me to it, but I presume that nostalgia is a big part of it. There are some themes from the NES era [...]
