A lot of tech magazines jump the gun when it comes to new video game hardware release dates. If I've seen it once, I've seen it a hundred times. When I stumbled upon a report of a TechSpot story that supposedly asserted that Wii U is due for release shortly after E3, specifically in June, it had me scratching my head. The story has recently been edited to correct for "accuracy," but the language of the revision itself continues to intrigue me. Take a look and judge for yourselves:
The story was edited for accuracy, before we had stated the Wii U would be available around June, but Nintendo's official word if [sic] only 2H/2012.
Now, I may be reading a bit too much into the publications use of "official word" instead of "only word," but could this be a case of the press jumping the gun on plans Nintendo's not quite ready to reveal? Hop inside for why I think this may have been a Freudian slip and not just any old mistake.
