Wonder Festival Winter 2012 is happening right now, which means sites around the globe are posting their share of pictures, showcasing the many different fandom and interest groups that are represented at the event. In addition to the the number of anime related figurines, a few Nintendo-related models have been spotted at the event. These include the two Metroid: Other M figurines I've been posting about, but there is also a new item for us all to keep our keys on. Among Max Factory's many figmas, a Skyward Sword style Link was unveiled....

Link From Majora’s Mask In Brawl?

Mods for emulated games are quite common and it seems no game sees as many different mods as Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, the mod we came across today could bring new life back into the game for certain fans and was so well received that it was featured in Zelda Universe’s Friday Fan Art. [...]

Nintendo Buys Mobiclip, What This Means for Wii U
Posted On 12 Feb 2012 By admin
If you've played a DS game that featured any amount of full-motion video (FMV), you've probably seen the logo at left. Mobiclip is a video codec developer whose main feat in the gaming world was the development of a processor-efficient, high-quality video compression method that allows for the maximization of battery life on portable video playing devices and therefore lower hardware costs. Since Nintendo's made use of Mobiclip codec software for all of its handheld devices since the Game Boy Advance, it's no wonder why, with two "handheld video game systems" in development - 3DS and the Wii U controller - they'd be apt to grab up Mobiclip for themselves. And it happened - Mobiclip is now a subsidiary of Nintendo. The acquisition means Nintendo's really focusing on getting the most out of the Wii U controller. As a Nintendo-owned venture, Mobiclip will optimize development for the device in order to (probably significantly) improve its battery life and drive down costs. This is a critical step in making the Wii U competitive against other current- and next-gen machines. Nintendo's always relied on cost-efficiency; now they can offer cost-efficiency and a pretty solid battery life....

Crash 2010: The Wii Game That Never Was
Posted On 12 Feb 2012 By admin
While I was never a Crash Bandicoot fan myself, I've always had a deep interest in canceled projects, especially when they progressed far enough along to the point where actual art and animation was produced. While it's been awhile since Crash has made an appearance on a home console, it wasn't long ago that a team was working on a Crash game. The canceled game, code-named Crash 2010, was originally intended to be released on the Wii before the project got scrapped in 2009. Earlier today, a fan made video was posted online that discussed the project more fully, showing off a good amount of animation and concept art that was made for the game. ...
