Tales of the Abyss is Out For 3DS Today, Here’s the Launch Trailer
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
While I can definitely see the value and appeal of the Tales of series, most of the games so far didn't really compel me - Tales of the Abyss being the sole exception. I was never quite able to finish since I've only ever borrowed it, but something about the world, story, characters, and difficulty ratio struck a good chord with me. Now I'll finally get my chance to play it all the way through - Tales of the Abyss just came out for 3DS. The handheld edition is a pretty faithful conversion of the PlayStation 2 original, an impressive feat for a Nintendo handheld. So far we've seen mostly Nintendo 64 remakes; now we're getting a more recent title. Sure, it's another game to add to the "3DS remake" pile, but I'm always down for something new to pop into my handhelds....

Awesome Series: Link to the Awesome
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
Ah, the question that people have been asking since 1991, what exactly is Link and Zelda’s relationship in A Link to the Past? Just moments after starting the game, Link leaves his house and travels through the pouring rain. He comes across his uncle just outside of Hyrule Castle, where he is wounded. Link’s Uncle [...]

The Danger of Crackers Comic
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
Zelda comics that people make can really put a game into perspective for you. It’s a trend that I’ve begun to notice in the Zelda community. Fi talks slow? She could talk slower. A part in a game is hard? It could most definitely be harder. Don’t like flying loftwings? Omnithea from Awkward Zombie has [...]

For A New Generation Of Gamers: Super Mario Bros. Gets A Restore Point
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
Gamers who grew up with the Nintendo Entertainment System in the mid-to-late 1980's will surely remember how satisfying it was the first time they took down Bowser, rescued the princess and completed the original Super Mario Bros. Getting a handle on Mario's springy jumps, slippery shoes and bouncy fireballs was an art in itself, and combined with the game-over system, the original Mushroom Kingdom expedition was a trial that marked the unrelenting spirit of a true gamer. In other words, it was brutally difficult. Okay, not brutally, but it was tricky. It was a little more tricky than the gamers of today can imagine. Which is perhaps why Nintendo has released an update to the 3DS version of Super Mario Bros., available through the 3DS Ambassadors program, which allows players to create a "save state", also known as a "restore point". before you tackle any seemingly difficult challenge in the game - and if you fail, all you need to do is opt to return to your pre-assigned point. It's the undo button that real life unfortunately lacks....

Pandora’s Tower has a European Release Date
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
You lucky European bastards. Pandora's Tower, the Japanese Role-Playing God of War-alike, is heading to Europe on April 12, according to CVG. With Xenoblade Chronicles finally dropping on April 2 in North America, there will be three Operation Rainfall games out in Europe by the time that most gamers even begin to scratch the surface of Xenoblade Chronicles in North America. Though we at Zelda Informer don't condone piracy by any means, it's hard not to think that on a platform as rampant with piracy as the Wii, that Nintendo of America has basically consigned themselves to poor sales by waiting on these games. It would be wishful thinking to think that every Op Rainfall supporter who wants these games would be willing to wait until they're given actual release dates in North America, and so-called "hardcore" games are often the worst victims of piracy. A game like Red Steel 2 severely underperformed at retail, but was apparently downloaded millions of times. With all of the virulence surrounding Nintendo and the Wii in general at the moment, a repeat situation is likely to occur - if it hasn't already, with Xenoblade Chronicles. ...

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance: 10 Minute Trailer
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
A new entry in Square Enix's highly-acclaimed action/RPG series is close to being released and - all the better - it's coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Of course it's Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, and though Nintendo fans may be somewhat unfamiliar with Sora, Mickey, Goofy and the rest - as the series had primarily been established on the Playstation 2 platform - you'll be happy to know that other series' games had appeared on the Nintendo DS platform, and in fact, two of these games - Re:coded and 385/2 Days - will be bundled with a collector's edition of Dream Drop Distance, so you can familiarise yourself with more of the franchise! But what's really important here is this whopping ten-minute trailer, showcasing a number of Disney-inspired worlds appearing in Dream Drop Distance, from film-favourites including but not limited to The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Fantasia and Tron: Legacy... hey, that's interesting, I wonder if Daft Punk will be composing music for a small section of the game? Probably not, but a man can always dream......

GameFly Has Titled And Dated Mario Tennis 3DS
Posted On 14 Feb 2012 By admin
... Seemingly on their own accord! We haven't received any official word from Nintendo as to the exact launch bracket of the next Mario sports title, and in fact, we haven't yet heard any information on Mario Tennis 3DS since the game was announced at 2011's Tokyo Game Show. But now it looks as though the ball is in GameFly's court, as the online gaming store service has listed the 3DS game under the title of Mario Tennis Open, to be released on the 20th of May, 2012, in the United States. Perhaps tennis enthusiasts would care to take this as more than just a rumour, as GameFly has been known to be accurate when it comes to such matters. At any rate, the new title is an alluring one, and we can only hope that Mario Tennis Open will overshadow the other games in its series, to create another memorable addition to our 3DS libraries!...
