Super Mario Bros. For All! This NES Classic Finally Goes Public on the 3DS eShop
Posted On 16 Feb 2012 By admin
Yes, I realize we covered this in our latest download update, but come on - it's freaking Super Mario Bros. (If a Zelda game showed up, you can bet we'd give it the same spotlight treatment.) That's right, the game that put Nintendo on the map within the video game home console business is now available in America on the eShop! Now even non-Ambassadors can purchase the original Super Mario adventure on their 3DS for $4.99. The game comes with all the usual Virtual Console features - digital instruction manuals, Suspend Points, a spiffy NES-themed home menu icon, and of course the ability to play classics on the go. May this day go down in history as the day that the great Super Mario Bros. was released... for the sixth time. Now, my question is- will Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3 follow?...

Four Swords Anniversary Edition Is Only Free For Another Week
Posted On 16 Feb 2012 By admin
As part of the 25th Anniversary for The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo released Four Swords as a free download for anyone with a DSi or a 3DS. It was released last year, and would be available for a limited time. Well, that time limit is slowly running out! In fact, we only have a week left before the game is no longer free. February 20th is the cut off day for this title to be free. I'm not sure what it will be priced at, or whether they will even be leaving it up for purchase. If you haven't downloaded the game, I suggest doing so soon. The game might be another Four Swords adventure, but it is still different than its previous installments. Ben wrote a full review and impressions article way back in September, so feel free to give it a quick look. I would be amazed if any DSi or 3DS owner doesn't already have this title. It's free, and it's Zelda. For those of you who don't already have one yet but have been considering a purchase, I suggest doing so soon!...

Nintendo Download Update for February 16th
Posted On 16 Feb 2012 By admin
The next demo that many of us have been looking forward to will finally hit the Nintendo eShop today! The Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D demo will be available to download today, and I'm sure I'm not the only one stoked to give it a shot. The Hulu Plus software will also be available to download, but the 3DS isn't the only system getting something new. Strider, the 16-bit version from Sega Genesis is hitting the Wii Virtual Console. It's a classic. You can run, jump, perform acrobatics and climb walls and overhangs. Your plasma sword, a Cypher, will help you beat five levels filled with bosses and challenges. Oh, did I mention Super Mario Bros. will be on sale as well? Looks like non-Ambassadors will be able to get their hands on it too. Dillon’s Rolling Western to Drop Next Week
Posted On 16 Feb 2012 By admin
Man, I don't know about you, but my eShop has been getting quite the workout lately. Could it be true? Has Nintendo, of all people, created one of the best digital download services out there? Well, yes, actually - by virtue of having console-quality games made by Nintendo on there (and they're pretty much all new IPs, to boot!). The latest of Nintendo's adventures in digital offerings is the long-awaited Dillon's Rolling Western, which introduces a new mascot (Dillon the armadillo) in a genre that Nintendo hasn't really tackled before: tower defence. Now, that's as saturated a genre as any, but it would appear that DRW also implements action-adventure into the mix, and it has the visual charm and (it would seem) the gameplay polish to potentially be a new Nintendo classic. Next Thursday, we'll get a chance to find out. (Keep in mind that for now, this date is Europe-only - they're the only division of Nintendo that seems to announce digital offerings early - but that with major releases such as this, the release is usually worldwide)...

First Ten Minutes of The Last Story
Posted On 16 Feb 2012 By admin
Not only has Nintendo graced us with a new trailer for The Last Story this week, but now the first ten minutes of the game has been released as well. No doubt, as we get closer to its European release later this month, we will continue to see more footage, but I believe this is the first time we've seen such a large chunk of footage of the English dub of the game....

Ever since I first met one of the new races created in Skyward Sword, the Kikwi, I always found myself humored by their actions and image, yet interested in finding out more about who they were and if they had any connection to races that came to be later on in the Zelda timeline. I [...]
