Dark World Theme on Marimba
Posted On 28 Feb 2012 By admin
There are endless fan covers of Zelda music on YouTube alone, and a good portion of them show off the awesome talent of the creator. Mart0zz and his friends have arranged another cover on the marimba (with other assorted instruments), this one being the Dark World music from A Link to the Past. The fruit [...]

Etrian Odyssey IV Official Site and Developer Blog Is Open
Posted On 28 Feb 2012 By admin
A few days ago, Matthew reported on details about Etrian Odyssey IV. There were very few details besides the game jumping to the 3DS, but it's safe to say we will be learning more! The series consists of first-person dungeon crawlers that have proven to test the worth of any gamer. Well, with the site now up and running you can browse through a few of the game's seven character classes. Artwork by Yuji Himukai is there as well. It also has sections form introduction, character and system. The system area shows something about a casual mode difficulty setting. It looks like that difficulty slider Matthew was hoping for came true. There is more information on the blog aspect of the site as well as the other sections after the jump. Clickity click!...

Zelda and Link get #3 in Top Gaming Love Stories
Posted On 28 Feb 2012 By admin
411mania has recently posted a list of the Top 5 Gaming Love Stories. Our very own Link and Zelda have earned a place at number three. Though I wouldn’t have ever expected Zelda and Link to make a love story couple, it’s still pretty interesting. It certainly makes for a unique relationship, as it will [...]

What Did The Wii U Announcement Accomplish?
Posted On 27 Feb 2012 By admin
Following several months of rumors, hype, and speculation, Nintendo officially unveiled the Wii U at E3 last June. Sort of. The system was officially announced, but very little information was given. Price, launch lineup, hardware specs, online capabilities, and just about anything else the fans were clamoring for was left out. Even images of the actual console itself weren't immediately revealed to the public. Granted, last year's E3 was mainly about the 3DS, but did Nintendo really accomplish anything with the early Wii U reveal? Jump inside and join the debate....

Geek Gear: The Legend of Zelda ‘A Fistfull of Rupees’ Shirt
Posted On 27 Feb 2012 By admin
In my browsing of the internet looking for something to post, I came across this Clint Eastwood-like Zelda shirt. A Fistfull of Rupees is in reference to the Clint Eastwood film, A Fistfull of Dollars. This was Clint Eastwood’s first starring role with his character being the Man with No Name. He carried a slogan [...]

Fan Artist of the Month: Dan Hipp
Posted On 27 Feb 2012 By admin
We haven't had a fan artist of the month in a long time. There wasn't one for December because the site was down, and there wasn't one in January because posting that giant Skyward Sword art feature made me think I had already posted a Fan Artist of the Month. Unfortunately, I didn't notice my mistake until the first week of February, but the ongoing art series is back with our February fan artist: Dan Hipp. Hipp's artwork, while featuring numerous Nintendo characters, is also largely focused around video game, comic, and film pop culture as a whole, often leading to many crossover pieces. His style focuses on simple linework with an emphasize on line texture and color. His pieces are not only great visually, but are also very entertaining....

eShop Games Can Be Up To 2GB
Posted On 27 Feb 2012 By admin
It seems there might be a technological reason for the not inconsiderable uptick in quality on the Nintendo eShop: developers have quite a bit more room to play around with. Nintendo has revealed that, unlike the 40mb limit on WiiWare games, Nintendo 3DS eShop titles can pack in up to 2GB of game. This obviously raises a number of exciting prospects. Considering that most retail 3DS games are on 2GB cards (with a few notable exceptions, namely Metal Gear Solid 3D), Nintendo could get into the digital distribution market for retail games, especially considering the upgrade to their network system with the Nintendo Network. As well, we've already seen the fruits of this choice, with ambitious eShop games like Dillon's Rolling Western and Pushmo packing in a ton of content. The drawback, of course, is that the 3DS shipped with a 2GB SD card, meaning that if people wanted to download full games, they'd need to upgrade to a bigger SDHC card. Not that that's an expensive prospect or anything, but it would require a transfer of games which is a little cumbersome. Nevertheless, this is exciting news, if only because it gives a glimmer of hope for the...

The Harp Twins Rock Our World With Skyward Sword’s "Ballad of the Goddess"
Posted On 26 Feb 2012 By admin
Today is a seemingly slow day for us, but that doesn't mean work isn't being done. For starters, our forums are now fully functioning after we discovered that some of our skins were spitting out index database errors. We are working on a solution, but for now we have reverted to an older skin to satisfy our needs. We are also hard at work on our site revamp, which we hop to launch by the end of next month. Getting back to this video, The Harp Twins are pretty awesome in general, and their take on Ballad of the Goddess is simply stunning. Be sure to check out their YouTube page to see and hear more of their work....
