Does The Legend of Zelda Series Need a Reboot?
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
According to Mike Damiani over at Game Trailers, yes, the Zelda series needs to be rebooted and now is the best time to do so. Skyward Sword was the distant prequel to the series and wrapped up many past questions we had about the storyline. More recently the Hyrule Historia book completely wrapped up the [...]

New Zelda Metal Keychain for Pre-Order
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
This set includes six items from the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Four of them are pictured in the image to the left, including the Shield, Bow & Arrow, Boots, and Slingshot. Considering there was no ‘boot’ item in Skyward Sword, I’m really questioning their decision making here. The other two items in the set [...]

Resident Evil Revelaitons Owners Rejoice, You Can Request a Replacement Cover
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
Can you spot the spelling mistake? Capcom's decided to slap a band-aid on this unfortunate packaging error by sending out replacement cover inserts to anyone whose copy of the game suffers from the error. Coming from a Capcom press release: As you may well have heard by now, the title of Revelations is indeed misspelled on the spine of the game box (as "Revelaitons"). Unfortunately, the initial North American shipment of the game will reflect this error, but we just got confirmation that subsequent shipments of the title are being repackaged to have the correct spelling. Meanwhile, customers who have received the misspelled version can contact our Customer Service line at 650-350-6700 or by email at accounts@capcom.com and we'll send you a new insert for your case. So yay! So if you're one of the many spelling and grammar purists out there, you can at least slip in the replacement to hide your shame. (I'd still recommend hanging onto the defective covers; should you choose to sell the game sometime down the line it may drive up collector's value somewhat.)...

Mario to the Future: What Direction Would You Like to See for Super Mario Bros. 3DS?
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
Note to self: "Mario to the Future" isn't nearly as catchy as A Link to the Past. We've known the Mario team has been hard at work on a 2D side-scrolling Super Mario title for 3DS since the handheld was first announced, but now that we know its release is on the horizon - within the upcoming fiscal year - it's time to start talking seriously about what we'd like out of it. One of the most enduring complaints against the recent Mushroom Kingdom revival in New Super Mario Bros. and its Wii sequel has been that the content is too derivative. We've already seen the grassy and spotty hills of the Mushroom Kingdom fields, ventured into those underground caves, climbed those generic mountains - the last time we visited a truly new environment was in Yoshi's Island for the Super Nintendo. It's time to go someplace new all over again. Could this be what the Super Mario Bros. franchise needs to make waves again? Hop inside for my thoughts....

Minish Cap Comic

Oh, how hard we Zelda fans work in order to obtain a powerful sword for Link. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it after you put all that time and effort into it. I bet you’ve never even wondered what it would be like if the sword you love so [...]

Nintendo Backpedals on Xenoblade April 6 Release Date
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
A couple days back, Nintendo of America launched the full official site for Xenoblade Chronicles the about-to-finally-hit-American-shores Japanese RPG from Monolith Soft. The site teased what would have been the first official mention of a specific release date for the mega-game - April 6 versus a more nebulous "April 2012." Turns out the reveal may have been in haste, for the specific date has been yanked from the site, and it's back to the more vague month-only approximation. Too bad, too. April 6 would have put the game's release date on a Friday, not Nintendo's usual Sunday. It's a prospect that Nintendo's toyed with for a couple of their other games, and for a deep RPG experience a pre-weekend release date seems like a no-brainer. GameStop's still listing Xenoblade for an April 2 Monday release. We'll see if that changes anytime soon....

Iwata Asks: The Last Story – Breaking the Formula, Returning to Foundations, The Importance of Story, and More
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
A new chapter in the continuing series of Iwata Asks interviews has been posted and translated. In this edition, Iwata talks with The Last Story director Hironobu Sakaguchi & lead artist Kimihiko Fujisaka. If you were to read any of the Iwata Asks interviews in full, this would be the one to read. It's a really amazing read, in which the former Final Fantasy director discusses his game design philosophy. It was such a great read that I am most certainly picking up The Last Story if it ever comes to North America (I was hesitant to do so before). ...

Skyward Sword, the latest and allegedly greatest game of the long-running Zelda series. It’s been 25 years since the original Legend of Zelda came out and started one of gaming’s most crucial and popular series, and Nintendo intended to cap that anniversary with one of the most ambitious projects in Nintendo’s history. But how good [...]

THQ Took A Hit From uDraw Game Tablet
Posted On 03 Feb 2012 By admin
For last year's holiday sales, THQ decided to release the uDraw tablet on platforms other than the Wii. The uDraw video game tablet was successful on the Wii, and was heavily marketed for the other systems. The lack of sales cost $100 million in a reduction of its sales for the holiday period. $80 million of it due to the unsold tablets. The other $20 million is related to poor software sales for the tablet and taking a hit in the reduction of its price in some retailers. There are roughly 1.4 million uDraw tablets left sitting in warehouses. To see the statements of CEO Brian Farrel, clickity click on the jump!...
