Realistic Visuals and the Zelda Franchise
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
Gamers have long been fascinated with the prospect of truly believable games. Developers and publishers have pitched “realistic” graphics for decades, and open-world gameplay, which is at least superficially an emulation of life in the real world, has ensured that “hardcore” gamers’ collective desire for realism has reached a fever pitch. Since the sixth generation, [...]

Hyrulian Travel Posters Make Travels A Reality
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
What would you do to travel the scenic views and crystal clear waters of Hyrule? What about a friendly climb up Death Mountain? GamerPrint's 'Hyrulian Travel' posters are designed to make these fantasies a reality. GamerPrints started in 2009 to create t-shirts they could actually wear without the frustration of the enormous amount of sub-standard art. They make hoodies and art prints now, and these Zelda art prints are really pretty in their own charming way. Nintendo-Gamer managed to get an interview with them to learn more about these prints. They asked about the interviewed individual and how the prints came into the making, as well as what influenced their designs. The influence for the designs were vintage travel posters made in the 1920s and 1930s. They had a minimalistic style and focused on a beautiful vista of the place they were promoting. The text was of a simple style as well, but these posters also kept Zelda's art style. They also asked what would be the one part of Hyrule they would like to visit and why. What would yours be?...

Nintendo: "We Refuse to Succumb to Patent Trolls"
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
This isn't the first time a company has tried to sue Nintendo in patent litigations. In fact, the third patent litigation case this year was just won. Rick Flamm, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of Legal & General Counsel has spoken against these "patent trolls", and with a good reason. Californian firm IA Labs clamed that the Wii Balance Board and Wii Fit software infringed on U.S. Patent No. 7,121,982. The patent covers: A computer interactive isometric exercise system includes an effector, a sensor coupled at a selected location on the effector to measure a force applied by a user to the effector, where the applied force effects a strain on the effector, and control circuitry. The patent shows an image of a rowing machine-like apparatus, which is very different than Nintendo's Balance Board. The case was dismissed without the need for a jury trial. To call these companies trolls makes me giggle, because from what we can see that seems to be all they are. What do you think of this? I've included more details after the jump, so clickity click!...

Uggie Loves His Pink 3DS
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
Uggie is Nintendo's first Spokesdog, and is helping the company out by using his adorableness to promote Nintendogs + Cats. He also seems to really enjoy playing on his pink Nintendo 3DS. The touch screen controls much make it much easier for him to play. Nintendo of America has released a few photos of this canine superstar, and it's rather cute. Any dog lover would love to see the photos, so why not give them a quick look? Uggie is Nintendo's first Spokedog, though he doesn't really speak to us humans. Maybe he can help Nintendo cater to their four legged audience?...

The Producer Of Resident Evil Wants To Make More 3DS Games
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
Resident Evil: Revelations is probably one of the best games currently on the Nintendo 3DS. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and it's a Resident Evil game that stands pretty well on its own in the series. The game was very well received, and is the second game from Resident Evil to be developed for the Nintendo 3DS. Masachika Kawata, the producer behind the series, has told IGN that the success of Revelations has inspired him to develop another Resident Evil game exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Sadly, he is currently working on other projects that need to be taken care of first. Still, it seems like the praise for Revelations is inspirational. Maybe we will be hearing of another 3DS title for the shooter series within the next year? His statement is after the jump. Would you like to see another Resident Evil game on the Nintendo handheld? Or maybe on the Wii U? Clickity click!...

Hey Guys, It’s Your Captain!
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
It's your server guy that never posts. Just have a couple updates I'd like to share!First off, a lot of you wonder who I am or what I've been up to. I don't have a lot of time to put towards video gaming these days, but lately I've taken up the handle of Music Journalist over at my personal blog, DennisWyman.com. In fact, just recently, I sent up a new recurring feature over there, "This Week In Playlists," where I talk about recent discoveries and addictions. Included in this week's roundup, is the music video for We Come Together by Goldfish, stylized as an 8-bit video game and full of references to several major Nintendo series.Secondly, we just underwent a MASSIVE server overhaul the past few days. For everybody that has been wondering what's been going on with the intermittent downtime, that was me. Things should be sorted out in that department for now though.See you around, kiddos!...
