Eiji Aonuma Talks About the HD Zelda E3 Demo and its Future Implications
Posted On 09 Jun 2011 By admin
In this interview Eiji Aonuma talks about the tech demo of Zelda HD, used at E3 to show off the Wii U. Specifically he mentions how no decisions have been made about Zelda on Wii U, but how when the time comes they will make decisions to suit the platform. Aonuma explains that the graphics of The Wind Waker were a result of fitting in with the aesthetics of the game, and the capabilities of the time and the Gamecube. So judging by what he says, a realistic Zelda game may be what is decided upon for the Wii U, so long as it fits in with the overall feel and aesthetics of the game. In other words, he's saying a Zelda with real graphics could happen, but don't expect it and don't get your hopes up. It's called playing it safe! Video inside......

RUMOR: News about Zelda’s 25th Anniversary to be at E3 2011
Posted On 01 Jun 2011 By admin
We all know that Mario got a sweet deal for his 25th anniversary. But what comes to Zelda fans this year for their favorite franchise's 25th? Nothing, as of yet. Iwata said that Miyamoto was working on something for the 25th anniversary of his franchise in March, but nothing since. Earlier, Famitsu held a live-stream with Eiji Aonuma to preview the upcoming Ocarina of Time 3D. While most of their time was spent talking about the game, Aonuma also let slip that Zelda's 25th Anniversary plans are set to take the stage at E3 2011. Now, it's time for speculation as to what it could be. A compilation of games, similar to Mario? A Zelda-themed 3DS? Something Cafe-related? Who knows. Just something else to get you hyped for E3 2011....

Life’s a Water Temple
Posted On 03 Sep 2010 By admin
An integral part of every Zelda game is the dungeon design, and perhaps none are more renown than the Water dungeons throughout the series. As a rule of thumb, they are long, tedious, repetitive, and always involve the flow of water being manipulated in some way. Out of the bunch, none stands out more than the classic Ocarina of Time Water Temple. Why is it that I don't hear any praise for it? Why are there so many haters of the legendary Water Temple? I think the fabled Water Temple is arguably the best dungeon in a Zelda game; ever. And the reason I say that goes beyond its interior decorations, its layout, or even its bosses. It is because the Water Temple is a reflection of life itself. With Ocarina of Time 3DS just around the corner, the topic of the Water Temple is as prominent as ever. Haters of the dungeon, and Eiji Aonuma himself (who might as well be classified a hater), always mention how annoying it was having to pause to change to the iron boots, but that is a gameplay and menu design element, quite separate to the Water Temple itself. The boot issue...

Has Nintendo Given Up on the Timeline?
Posted On 30 Jul 2010 By admin
The Zelda timeline is one of the central pillars to The Legend of Zelda franchise. It is without a doubt of great significance to the series' fanbase, but it is debatable how important the overall chronology is to Nintendo. There has recently been a bit of controversy over Eiji Aonuma confirming the existence of a 'master timeline document'. More often we hear about how Nintendo tends to place gameplay as a higher priority than storyline. Looking at the Zelda series in recent times I tend to think that Nintendo has been taking more care in the overall series storyline, and to me, that implies nothing more than they have given up on the timeline....
