Is the Wii U Coming to Market Shortly After E3?
Posted On 12 Jan 2012 By admin
A lot of tech magazines jump the gun when it comes to new video game hardware release dates. If I've seen it once, I've seen it a hundred times. When I stumbled upon a report of a TechSpot story that supposedly asserted that Wii U is due for release shortly after E3, specifically in June, it had me scratching my head. The story has recently been edited to correct for "accuracy," but the language of the revision itself continues to intrigue me. Take a look and judge for yourselves: The story was edited for accuracy, before we had stated the Wii U would be available around June, but Nintendo's official word if [sic] only 2H/2012. Now, I may be reading a bit too much into the publications use of "official word" instead of "only word," but could this be a case of the press jumping the gun on plans Nintendo's not quite ready to reveal? Hop inside for why I think this may have been a Freudian slip and not just any old mistake....

What to Expect from Zelda in 2012
Posted On 06 Jan 2012 By admin
Having just come through the eventful months of 2011's 25th Anniversary celebrations, 2012 will be a very quiet year for The Legend of Zelda in comparison. While we can expect the fun to continue with the Symphony Concert World Tour, and the replayability of Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time 3D, Four Swords Anniversary Edition and the other Zelda titles re-released on the 3DS last year, what new content can we expect? The first stop on the road of potential Zelda gaming in 2012 is GDC in early March, before we roll on to E3 in June. The most likely major announcement at either of these events is for that of a Zelda title for the Nintendo 3DS. With The Minish Cap in 2005, Phantom Hourglass in 2007 and Spirit Tracks in 2009, the time is ripe for the next handheld Zelda title. Whether the title is released in 2012, or held over until 2013, this should be the year where we get an idea about where Zelda will go on the 3DS....

UPDATE: Everything We Know About Skyward Sword
Posted On 16 Jul 2011 By admin
Ideally I'd have liked to have released this about a month ago, but life has been so ridiculously hectic for me since E3 that I haven't really known what to do with myself. Since then, Ocarina of Time 3D's hit the world scene, I've fielded questions about Skyward Sword...twice, and ZI's been prepping a long-time-coming super-secret project for launch. Oh, wait, did I say that out loud? Nevertheless, I've finally got pretty much everything we know about Skyward Sword all compiled in one nice, neat little huge article, complete with descriptions of all the items, enemies, characters, and gameplay features we've seen so far. There's a spiffy Table of Contents that you can use to navigate to the stuff you want to read about most (did I mention this article is huge?). We'll be adding a condensed version of this overview to our Skyward Sword Walkthrough page at some point, so if you aren't in the mood for such a heavy read keep checking back at that page for updates. UPDATE 7/16: One of our fans, Ariel, pointed out one bit of info I missed. Can you find it? (It's bolded in the article.) She also corrected me on...

E3 Aftermath: Final Thoughts and Summary
Posted On 23 Jun 2011 By admin
It was an interesting E3 this year. Initially I didn't know what to think of the conference as I watched it live. Then straight afterwards we were hit with a bunch of announcements, many of which we were surprised they weren't featured in the conference. We saw the reveal of the Wii U, but it wasn't entirely a reveal like we've come to know from Nintendo. 2011 was different, but we need to remember that different isn't bad....
