If Final Fantasy VII Gets a Remake, Should It Come to 3DS?
Posted On 05 Feb 2012 By admin
I stumbled upon an article by Chris Buffa at Modojo that suggested that the long-rumored Final Fantasy VII remake that everyone but Square seems to want should actually come to 3DS. And, having taken a second crack at the game in recent weeks - I never had the time to devote to it the first time I tried it - I have to say that I kind of agree with him. (This is, of course, ignoring the fact that the 3DS should get brand-new titles and not just remakes.) Now, Chris's argument focuses mostly on how it's time for Final Fantasy to come back to its original home on Nintendo systems, but he does touch on a point that I think is worth discussing. Find out what that point is after the jump. ...

Iwata Asks: The Last Story – Breaking the Formula, Returning to Foundations, The Importance of Story, and More
Posted On 04 Feb 2012 By admin
A new chapter in the continuing series of Iwata Asks interviews has been posted and translated. In this edition, Iwata talks with The Last Story director Hironobu Sakaguchi & lead artist Kimihiko Fujisaka. If you were to read any of the Iwata Asks interviews in full, this would be the one to read. It's a really amazing read, in which the former Final Fantasy director discusses his game design philosophy. It was such a great read that I am most certainly picking up The Last Story if it ever comes to North America (I was hesitant to do so before). ...

Resident Evil: Revelations – GameTrailers Video Review
Posted On 02 Feb 2012 By admin
GameTrailers has released their official review for the Nintendo 3DS and Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations. While more than a few reviews for the new Resident Evil title have made their way online, this is the first video review (at least that I know of) that walks through the pros and cons of the game in detail. ...

Nintendo Download Update for February 2nd
Posted On 02 Feb 2012 By admin
The list of new games coming this week is small, but has Sakurai Samurai: Art of the Sword in it. I will not complain, because I've been reading reviews about it and find that I will definitely love to play it. As the heroic title character, you'll travel a world rife with cherry-blossom beauty--and deadly danger--to rescue the legendary Princess Cherry Blossom. Her kidnapper has set dozens of blade-wielding henchmen in your path, and you'll have to exercise your best battle senses to defeat them and save her. Learn to predict your foes' moves, deftly dodge their attacks, and create opportunities for devastating counterattacks. Mutant Mudds was last weeks download choice of the month for me, and this month I'm going to be downloading Sakura Samurai. Iwata: Digital Business and the Internet
Posted On 31 Jan 2012 By admin
Man, what is with Satoru Iwata being all over the gaming news these days? Satoru Iwata has announced that Nintendo has the necessary infrastructure to begin a digital business campaign, due to implications about its importance in future workings. Sadly, more information is being withheld from the public because undetermined rumors from what Nintendo says hurts them in the long run. More information would be revealed when digital distribution begins, if ever. More information about retailing after the break....

An Animation News Network Makes Fun of Nintendo, Asks if They Can Recover With the Wii U
Posted On 29 Jan 2012 By admin
I wont lie and say I didn't find parts of this funny... because I did chuckle here and there. I also sincerely hope NMA TV is simply pulling a fast one on it's followers, because they are highly misconstruing the actual situation with Nintendo. Sure, they just completed their first year of fiscal loss since becoming a video game company, but the point is that Nintendo is just fine. They presumably have a lot of money banked up from the DS and Wii success, and the fact the video even points to Nintendo not supporting the android/apple market and that the Wii is part of the problem is downright laughable at best. Nintendo is fine folks. Can they recover? Most claim they already have. The Wii has likely reached it's ceiling at this point in it's life, but the 3DS is taking off like wildfire now that it has a worthy price point and a handful of really great games. Should only get better as a solid lineup of games are still on the horizon. The Wii U is more of a "chance to redeem" Nintendo themselves to gamers on other platforms more so than "saving the company". Nintendo...

Europe to Receive Gimped Version of One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP
Posted On 29 Jan 2012 By admin
While the game has finally been set for a February 10th release date in Europe, the version of One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP that will be hitting the shelves in the next few weeks will be a downgraded version of the Japanese edition of the game. As a reminder, Unlimited Cruise SP is a port of the two Unlimited Cruise episodes that were released separately on the Wii (neither of which were released in North America). However, while the Japanese version of SP contained both episodes, the European version will only feature one episode....

Michael Pachter: Nintendo Wont be Entering the Tablet Market
Posted On 29 Jan 2012 By admin
Get More: GameTrailers.com, Pach-Attack! - The Tablets Have It, PC Games, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 I know when it comes to Mr. Pachter it's a two sided coin. A lot of people hate him because he is wrong a lot and openly admits to it, yet gets paid to be an analyst. Others like his perspective on the industry, and point out that it's not about if he is right or not and it's more important to look at the topics he helps bring to the forefront of gamer's minds. Setting all that aside, I do think he nails this on the head. Sure, it's a tad insulting the way he words it... but it's nonetheless true. Nintendo is not going to be entering the Tablet market. Period. You can take that one to the bank. I don't think it's that Nintendo doesn't necessarily have the ability to create a compelling and competitive tablet, but rather the fact they have absolutely no interest in doing so. It would inadvertently create competition within itself with the 3DS and yes, even the Wii U. As Apple has shown that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it would also mean that Nintendo...

Resident Evil: Revelations Receives Price Drop; Pre-order Sales Surge
Posted On 29 Jan 2012 By admin
For those who don't remember, Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS was originally priced at $49.99. The reasoning behind this had to do with the fact that the game is being made available on a 4GB card instead of the standard 2GB 3DS card. Based on the excellent reviews the game has received and the near-console experience that the developer's are making it out to be, the fifty-dollar price tag isn't that horrible. However, I'm not going to deny that I'm not happy about Capcom since reducing the price to $39.99....

Aliens: Colonial Marines – Contact Trailer
Posted On 27 Jan 2012 By admin
Aliens: Colonial Marines is one of the few games that has been confirmed for the Wii U, and, with an expected release date of sometime this year, it is one of the few known launch titles. A new cinematic trailer for the upcoming title was released today. The trailer doesn't show much in terms of gameplay (check out the E3 demo if you're looking for some of that footage), but, instead, focuses on how the game is emulating the cinematic style of the films that it is based on, while still taking their own approach on the classic look. ...
