It’s not too often that console mods show up, but today we’ve found something spectacular. Unfortunately, there’s no clear way to buy one of these, but it’s still something worth looking [...]

Nintendo: "We Refuse to Succumb to Patent Trolls"
Posted On 02 Mar 2012 By admin
This isn't the first time a company has tried to sue Nintendo in patent litigations. In fact, the third patent litigation case this year was just won. Rick Flamm, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of Legal & General Counsel has spoken against these "patent trolls", and with a good reason. Californian firm IA Labs clamed that the Wii Balance Board and Wii Fit software infringed on U.S. Patent No. 7,121,982. The patent covers: A computer interactive isometric exercise system includes an effector, a sensor coupled at a selected location on the effector to measure a force applied by a user to the effector, where the applied force effects a strain on the effector, and control circuitry. The patent shows an image of a rowing machine-like apparatus, which is very different than Nintendo's Balance Board. The case was dismissed without the need for a jury trial. To call these companies trolls makes me giggle, because from what we can see that seems to be all they are. What do you think of this? I've included more details after the jump, so clickity click!...

GAME isn’t Stocking Mario Party 9, Mass Effect 3
Posted On 01 Mar 2012 By admin
For quite some time, GAME (and its offshoot, GameStation) was one of the premier "high street" video game specialist retailers in Britain, but if you've been paying any attention to the company's fortunes as of late, you know that it seems like that's about to come to an end. First came the news that GAME wouldn't be carrying The Last Story - a bit of a blow, considering the game's pedigree, but at least marginally understandable. JRPGs aren't the all-conquering behemoths they once were, even if they're as hyped up as Sakaguchi's latest jam has been. It seems the cuts go a little deeper than that. The big Nintendo release of the season, Mario Party 9, which is a guaranteed hit across the casual/hardcore spectrum, will also not be carried by GAME. But the real story is that GAME won't be carrying any EA or Ubisoft games, and that they've stopped taking pre-orders for the impending blockbuster release of Mass Effect 3. Jump inside for more doom and gloom....

The Harp Twins Rock Our World With Skyward Sword’s "Ballad of the Goddess"
Posted On 26 Feb 2012 By admin
Today is a seemingly slow day for us, but that doesn't mean work isn't being done. For starters, our forums are now fully functioning after we discovered that some of our skins were spitting out index database errors. We are working on a solution, but for now we have reverted to an older skin to satisfy our needs. We are also hard at work on our site revamp, which we hop to launch by the end of next month. Getting back to this video, The Harp Twins are pretty awesome in general, and their take on Ballad of the Goddess is simply stunning. Be sure to check out their YouTube page to see and hear more of their work....

Pandora’s Tower European Box-Art
Posted On 26 Feb 2012 By admin
I have a friend who wants to be the one to design the artwork every gamer sees on the box of their favorite games. Well, Nintendo of Europe has revealed the box-art for Pandora's Tower today, and it looks pretty darn good. The Limited Edition box-art was revealed as well, but you will have to clickity click on the jump to get a view. The game is set out to come to Europe on April 13th. This is one of the Operation Rainfall games that North American gamers fought for, and it might not be too long before we get more news on it. Xenoblade Chronicles has been given a release date and The Last Story is in the process of localization too. Hopefully we will see this Pandora's Tower box-art on game retail shops everywhere too....

Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles With GameStop, Get A Free Art Book!
Posted On 25 Feb 2012 By admin
Everyone in the US is pretty stoked that one part of operation rainfall - that's the Xenoblade Chronicles part - will be heading stateside on the 6th of April, this year. It's been a long wait coming for this stellar Japanese Wii RPG, and GameStop knows just how much the wait has killed the fans of the game. Which is exactly why GameStop is securing a free book, containing concept artwork of Xenoblade Chronicles, with every pre-order of the game. Not a bad pre-order bonus, if I do say so myself!...

Watch A Trailer for The Last Story Directed by Hironobu Sakaguchi
Posted On 24 Feb 2012 By admin
The Last Story launches today in Europe, and I don't think I've been more excited for a game since... well, since Skyward Sword, I guess. After the complete and utter letdown that was Final Fantasy XIII, I'm incredibly excited to see what Hironobu Sakaguchi, one of the all-time greatest game designers, has up his sleeve, especially since it's his first time directing a game since Final Fantasy V. To me, this is the real Final Fantasy XIII (and by extension, Lost Odyssey the real Final Fantasy XII) In this latest trailer, Sakaguchi himself has cut together the footage of the game, revealing something that looks unfathomably epic. I might be alone on this, but I'm getting a Final Fantasy X meets Twilight Princess vibe, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of influence working with Nintendo will have on Sakaguchi's generally idiosyncratic view. Also, man, this Nobuo Uematsu soundtrack is something else. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. For those of you in Europe, you're a lucky bunch, though hopefully the wait for us North American types will be brief....
